Welcome to the New PM&R Department!

Kevin Vincent, M.D., Ph.D., (center) founding chair of the UF College of Medicine’s new PM&R Department, speaks during a meeting with department faculty and residents.

The BRAIN Center is happy to welcome the new Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation! Several of our center members, including Steering Committee member Dr. Carolyn Geis, are primary faculty in PM&R – the first new clinical department in the College of Medicine in 30 years. Congratulations to founding chair Dr. Kevin Vincent and his team for building a free-standing department that will allow them to not only compete for federal grants and other research funding but also develop innovative solutions for patients who have experienced stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, neuromuscular disease, musculoskeletal or sports injury, back pain, congenital disability, or limb amputation. Learn more about the development of this new department in the recent UF Health article, UF College of Medicine adds first new clinical department in 30 years. You can also join us on August 12th for a BRAIN Building seminar (co-hosted by the BREATHE Center) featuring Drs. Kevin and Heather Vincent.

Our physicians are there to look at the whole picture around one patient to help them gain the highest level of function possible, including their physical abilities, psychological well-being, their role within their family and in the community.
