NFL Partners with UF to Measure On-Field Head Impacts Using Novel Mouthguard Sensors
|
Led by UF team physician and center member Jay Clugston, UF will partner with the NFL to better understand on-field head impact. UF will collect data from these head impacts through mouthguard sensors to inform injury reduction efforts.

Adropin Treatment Shows Promise to Limit Post-stroke Brain Damage in Mouse Study
|
Center member Eduardo Canderlario-Jalil and his team have identified a new potential way to minimize brain damage caused by ischemic stroke: a treatment using a synthetic form of adropin, a molecule naturally produced in mammals. Findings from the preclinical mouse-model study, published in the journal Stroke, offer hope of adding to limited treatment options to thwart the worst effects of stroke.

Researchers Receive $3.6 Million to Study Breathing Therapy for Patients with Spinal Cord Injury
|
Center members, Drs. Emily Fox and Gordon Mitchell, are leading a new study investigating methods for optimizing therapeutic acute intermittent hypoxia. They hope to gain a better understanding of which individuals will benefit from this novel form of breathing therapy.

BRAIN Center Members Join Gainesville Walk to End Alzheimer's
|
As part of Team UFHealth, the BRAIN Center joined forces with UF's neuro community in Gainesville's Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 22, 2022. Participants raised $122,000 to go towards Alzheimer’s care, support for research, awareness and advocacy!

Center Members Among Research Teams Awarded MBI Grant Funding
|
Several center members, including Drs. Erica Dale, Brian Hoh, Michael Jaffee, Gordon Mitchell, and David Vaillancourt, were among eight research teams awarded MBI funds to conduct neuroscience and neuromedicine research at UF.
